With it being NFL combine week, that means only two more weeks until free agency kicks off, and at that point, NFL mocks across the land will change daily.    I wanted to see how a seven-round mock without trades would work at the current stage of the league.

Round 1

1. Chicago Bears:  Jalen Carter DL | Georgia…The Bears are likely to trade down, but Carter is the man they want to build the defense around in the Windy City.             

2. Houston Texans:   Bryce Young QB | Alabama…Young has it all except prototypical size, but HC Ryans saw first-hand how that is overrated.   Young will have the Texans in the playoffs before his option is up.

3. Arizona Cardinals:  Will Anderson Jr. EDGE | Alabama…The new regime in Arizona needs a defensive leader with the Watt retirement. Anderson will have a Micah Parson impact.

4. Indianapolis Colts:   C.J. Stroud QB | Ohio State…No longer the last stop before leaving the league as a QB. Indy turns the page and gets the ultra-talented Stroud. 

5. Seattle Seahawks:   Will Levis QB | Kentucky…..Teams do not draft this high often, so when you do, and a franchise QB is available, you take him.   Levis will not need to be rushed, with Geno Smith likely holding the spot for the following year.

6. Detroit Lions:    Tyree Wilson EDGE | Texas Tech….Keep adding to the defense. Wilson is going to continue to rise up the ranks.   

7. Las Vegas Raiders:    Anthony Richardson QB | Florida…..Las Vegas needs a franchise QB, and Richardson has the tools just will need some time.   

8. Atlanta Falcons:   Myles Murphy EDGE | Clemson…The Falcons will load up this free agency period, but adding youth is vital. Murphy is a beast and should contend for DROY.

9. Carolina Panthers:  Quentin Johnston WR | TCU…No quarterback is available, so they take the best wide receiver who will be a match-up problem early on.

10. Philadelphia Eagles:   Christian Gonzalez CB | Oregon…The Bradberry replacement.    Gonzalez has incredible size.

11. Tennessee Titans:   Paris Johnson Jr. OT | Ohio State…Strengthens the line to help open those holes for Derrick Henry.

12. Houston Texans:   Jordan Addison WR | USC…Favorite weapon for Bryce Young. 

13. New York Jets:    Peter Skoronski OT | Northwestern…protector for Aaron Rodgers?

14. New England Patriots:    Joey Porter Jr. CB | Penn State…..Stud corner, who takes over day 1. Coach Bill likes having players with parents that have played or coached.

15. Green Bay Packers:   Michael Mayer TE | Notre Dame….Added wide receivers last year, and now the Witten-like tight end.   Jordan Love will love throwing to him.

16Washington Commanders:   Devon Witherspoon CB | Illinois….Gives the defense the lockdown corner it desperately needs.

17 Pittsburgh Steelers:    Broderick Jones OT | Georgia…..Huge man that instantly makes Pickett better.

18. Detroit Lions:    Kelee Ringo CB | Georgia…The Lions get lucky as Ringo slides further than he should and takes over in the defensive backfield.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers:    Bijan Robinson RB | Texas….Tom is gone, and so is the offensive philosophy. They shift to a more balanced attack, no longer going the rental running back style, and get a true game-changing franchise back.

20. Seattle Seahawks:   Bryan Bresee DL | Clemson….This pick is for 2023, and Bresee helps the interior defensive line immensely and should be a day-one starter.

21. LA Chargers:   Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR | Ohio State….Keenan Allen is likely on his way out, so Kellen Moore gets a new toy.

22. Baltimore Ravens:   Cam Smith CB | South Carolina… An excellent player who will help all levels of the defense.

23. Minnesota Vikings:  Emmanuel Forbes CB | Mississippi State…..Long is a talented corner who is a little below the radar to fans but not teams. 

24. Jacksonville Jaguars:   Deonte Banks CB | Maryland….Jaguars add a big corner to help the team make the next step.

25. N.Y. Giants:  Zay Flowers WR | Boston College…Perfect splash player for the team needing impact-type people on the offense.  

26. Dallas Cowboys:    Jalin Hyatt WR | Tennessee ….Dallas needs speed, and Hyatt checks that box out and then some.

27. Buffalo Bills:  Jahmyr Gibbs RB | Alabama…Josh cannot lead the team in rushing, and now he won’t

28. Cincinnati Bengals: Anton Harrison OT | Oklahoma….Keep adding talent to protect the franchise.

29. New Orleans Saints:   Nolan Smith EDGE | Georgia. A defense upgrade is needed in New Orleans.   If Nolan had been 100% this year, he would have gone much higher.

30. Philadelphia Eagles:   Lukas Van Ness EDGE | Iowa….Philly adds youth to the defense as they expect to lose many defensive starters in free agency.   Van Ness is a Philly kind of person.

31. Kansas City Chiefs: Josh Downs WR | North Carolina….New weapon for the league MVP. Downs will be an instant hit in this offense.
