This mock does not have trades, as that road gets too complicated. It was brought to you by NFL Mock Draft Database
Round 1
Chicago Bears: Will Anderson Jr. EDGE | Alabama….the next great pass rusher for the Monster of the Midway. Chicago could trade down a bit but have to be careful, as they need to come away with Anderson or Carter for their defense.
Houston Texans: Bryce Young QB | Alabama….A new regime with a rookie feature signal caller. DeMeco Ryans will return to his college roots and grab the multi-talent Young.
Arizona Cardinals: Jalen Carter DL | Georgia …Beast in the middle of the defense for whoever the new head coach is for 2023.
Indianapolis Colts: C.J. Stroud QB | Ohio State …Enough being the last stop for quarterbacks before leaving the NFL. Stroud will be the new long-term answer for whoever the head coach is in 2023.
Seattle Seahawks: Will Levis QB | Kentucky …debated whether they go QB or add to the defense, but the hope is not to be drafting high again, and with Geno Smith in place, they can bring Levis along slower than the other two in front of him in this draft and become a long term QB for them.
Detroit Lions: Myles Murphy EDGE | Clemson….Dan Campbell keeps adding to his defense as the Lions are poised to take the next step and become a playoff-caliber team.
Las Vegas Raiders: Paris Johnson Jr. OT | Ohio State….Top OT this season and add stability to whoever the new signal caller will be (Jimmy G?).
Atlanta Falcons: Christian Gonzalez CB | Oregon …..Good chance Ryan Tannehill is under center next season, so they flip to the other side and get the top corner on the board. Gonzalez is huge (6-2) and has shutdown ability.
Carolina Panthers: Anthony Richardson QB | Florida….Frank Reich gets his new project and likely sits him for 2023 with some packages, but Richardson has a lot of qualities that make him too tempting to pass up. Maybe grab an Andy Dalton, Taylor Heinicke, or Jacoby Brissett as a bridge quarterback.
Philadelphia Eagles: Joey Porter Jr. CB | Penn State ..perfect replacement for James Bradberry as he likely moves on this off-season. Porter is a physical freak that will be a day-one starter and impact player for the Eagles.
Tennessee Titans: Peter Skoronski OT | Northwestern….A run-oriented team can continuously improve the trenches, and Skoronski is a talented, hard-working, blue-collar stud that will fit perfectly in Tennessee.
Houston Texans: Jordan Addison WR | USC…Texans lacked a homerun threat all season, and now with the new quarterback, they luck out and grab the top receiver and hopefully can sit back and watch the duo build chemistry and start to give the Texans a real offensive pair to build on.
New York Jets: Broderick Jones OT | Georgia …Lot of good things happened last draft, but an improved offensive line is needed, and Jones is a talent that will impact the new signal caller (ARod?).
New England Patriots: Quentin Johnston WR | TCU ….Patriots do not have an excellent track record at drafting wide receivers but keep trying to get better. With a new/old offensive coordinator (Bill O’Brien) in place, Mac Jones should return to normal, and having a big target like Quentin will suddenly make the offense look much better.
Green Bay Packers: Michael MayerTE | Notre Dame….The Packers added the wide receivers now they add the tight end for the future. Mayer is the top tight end and will help any signal caller keep drives alive. Mayer reminds me in many ways of Jason Witten.
Washington Commanders: Devon Witherspoon CB | Illinois ….moving forward with Sam Howell and Brian Robinson, the team can shift to the other side of the ball and add the most underrated but complete cornerback in the draft. Witherspoon could contend for ROY.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Kelee Ringo CB | Georgia …Keelee has dropped a little bit since the season ended and has a less-than-stellar game against Ohio State, but that is all to the Steelers advantage. Ringo has the measurables to make the team fall in love with him, and remember, and he has been covering NFL-caliber wide receivers for years in the SEC. A potentially great pick for the Steelers at this point in round one.
Detroit Lions: Bryan Bresee DL | Clemson….Adding to that defensive line improves the defense and increases the opportunity for the offense. Remember, San Francisco kept drafting defensive linemen as the framework for their recent success.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cam Smith CB | South Carolina ….New world in Tampa Bay and many changes ahead. No quarterback worth taking at this point, but the defense is desperate for a second corner, and Smith is a safe, solid pick this late in round one.
Seattle Seahawks: Tyree Wilson EDGE | Texas Tech…Pete Carroll will be thrilled if they can get a pass rusher like Wilson here. Wilson is an early starter who will help the team make the next step in the rebuild.
Los Angeles Chargers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR | Ohio State …Keenan Allen is likely a cap casualty, so new OC Kellen Moore gets a new toy for his offense.
Baltimore Ravens: Jalin Hyatt WR | Tennessee…Ravens need speed and receivers, and with a new OC, the wide receivers can expect to focus more on catching the ball and blocking less. Hyatt has some learning of the entire route tree, but his speed makes him a unique talent and threat.
Minnesota Vikings: Lukas Van Ness EDGE | Iowa ….Vikings need an influx of defensive talent. Van Ness is the disciplined, hard-working guy that would fit with the new defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Plus his name just sounds like a Viking.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Clark Phillips III CB | Utah…..Nice compact corner who will fit well in the defensive scheme.
New York Giants: Trenton Simpson LB | Clemson….They could use more offensive explosive players, but at this point, only running backs remain, and if they plan to resign Barkley no reason for that. Instead, adding a player like Simpson for Wink’s defense will be a welcome addition.
Dallas Cowboys: Bijan Robinson RB | Texas ….A month ago, I thought it was crazy to grab Bijan here, but after seeing how the season played out and the fact Zeke is done and the offensive scheme will be shifting, adding a guy like Robinson makes total sense. Cowboys need fast, quick players, and Robinson can take right over for Zeke, with Pollard likely resigned to a three-year deal, giving Dallas a dependable go-to running attack to balance out the offense.
Buffalo Bills: Jahmyr Gibbs RB | Alabama …A dream pick for Buffalo so that Josh Allen is no longer the top running threat. Gibbs is a complete back for Buffalo to balance out their offense and provide a legit attack on the ground.
Cincinnati Bengals: Brian Branch S | Alabama….Steal at this point; sooner or later, the Bengals will be moving on from Jessie Bates as other contracts (Joe Burrow) will make keeping Bates unlikely. Grabbing Branch this late is a great move that keeps teams as contenders.
New Orleans Saints: Siaki Ika DL | Baylor…..The big man in the middle as they cash in the Sean Payton pick to help the defense and, in turn, help the offense with more opportunities.
Philadelphia Eagles: Isaiah Foskey EDGE | Notre Dame …Lot of free agents and age on the defense. Foskey is an excellent add with the last pick in round one and a likely starter by mid-season.
Kansas City Chiefs: Anton Harrison OT |Oklahoma …..Keep the franchise staff, and with Orlando Brown Jr. a free agent with a Spotrac market value of 22.4 million, investing in a young tackle will help in 2023 and down the road.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Dawand Jones OT | Ohio State ….Monster offensive tackle who Pittsburgh can run and pass behind. A talent like Jones helps the offense and defense.
